BIG SPRING JAM wknd... Haven't been a few years, and is so expensive, but since is walking distance and the kids are a lil older and easier to deal with.. we are going. Went last nite and saw Joan Jett & the Blackhearts. Not bad.. Konor fell asleep in my lap around 10:30 and Zily did on walk home..ended up carrying her. She peed thru her pull up and jeans..was a nice show..lol...

Konor been a whiny butt...don't know what is the matter with him, I swear there has to be something..just doesn't seem 'normal' He FREAKS at the drop of a hat and beginnin to drive us batty..

Anyways, the gate doesn't open until 4pm today. Used to be open earlier cos they had a kids stage and things for kids to do, but not anymore. Ticket prices went up.. $45 for a wknd pass now..sheesh, plus the yummy food that only get to eat while there...we already spent a lot..ugh..
But, it's not like we get to do this every wknd. Kids under 10 are free now, so that is nice.

I wish I could take the kids home and put to bed so we could go out by selves..but that would mean hiking back home, getting them to actually sleep and I just don't see it happening.

    Today get to see:

    Your Forecast

    Sep 27, 2007 07:17 AM

Welcome changes in the weather have finally arrived to the Heart of the Valley. A cold front will move through this afternoon bringing much needed rainfall along with slightly lower temperatures. Scattered showers and storms will develop through the day. It won't be an all day rain event for most areas, but it would still be a good idea to keep an umbrella handy. Rain will begin to wind down by early this evening. Temperatures today will top out in the mid 80s. As drier and cooler air filters into the area tonight we'll see a gradual decrease in the clouds. Temperatures will drop to around 60. Tomorrow through the weekend looks almost perfect as we wrap up September. Expect to see lots of sunshine and low humidity. Highs will run in the low to mid 80s with overnight lows getting down into the 50s. October will start on a warm and dry note with highs in the mid 80s for the first part of next week. Rain chances will not return until midweek at the earliest. Have a great Thursday!

    Prudence's 'take a load off' Noozletter 9/1/07
The party is over. The grills are home on their own turf, the smoke is gone, lawn chairs are again folded and tucked into the garage. Thanks to computers and digital cameras we are now sifting through approximately 600 photos on various photo sites online, exclaiming how cute the little ones are, how much fun they are having with their long lost cousins and marveling that no matter the distance between us, we are family. A silken tie binds us together with unspoken words and unbreakable strength.

As families go, in the past we have had our share of hurt feelings, angry words thrown around too casually, and tempers too close to the surface. We're a volatile bunch of grapes. As families go though, we have an incredible ability to recognize that we are family, and cling to each other when the going get's rough and to forget the hurt feelings, as they are nothing compared to the feelings of love buried deep within our hearts for each other.

My brothers and I have always been so close. We are a round, roly poly army of three. We listen to each others complaints, feel each others pain and will fight to the death for each other. I don't know how this all came about, but I know that if our knees were blown off we'd walk on our bloody stumps to get to each other if they needed us.

Our Kinley BBQ was a huge success! Incredible! Astounding! My dream when I first thought of doing this was to get our far flung children and grandchildren all together while the three bears were all still alive. I'm 63, Terry's 72 and Rod is 74. Get together and have one big bash where we would reconnect, and where our grandchildren and great grandchildren could get to know all of their cousins, Aunts and Uncles. I have such fond memories of these sorts of parties when I was growing up. I go back to those times in my mind and visit them often. Now the next generations can do that to.

I guess if you live close together you think this is strange to be so excited about just a family gathering. Well, we really did have a wonderful time. The wee ones were so busy playing and having fun together we didn't know they were around. Aside from making all the food outdoors, we just sat around and laughed and talked and soaked in the love. If anything can heal cancer, that sure has to have had some wonderful effect on me. I felt cleansed and purified somehow. I really needed that. God poured Himself over that mountain like a healing balm. I hope each one of you has this exceptional feeling at some point in your lives, when you are feeling so lost and frustrated, and then this wash of peace and calm overwhelms you. It truly was a mountaintop moment in all ways!

I can't end this without telling you about how absolutely astounding the food was. Friday night my brother Rod, Pret, Roddy, Steve, Debbie (my daughter) and I forget who else, sat around under a fly while Todd tended his smoker loaded with pork butts. The smell alone made you woozy. I didn't have to eat any, (but I did!!!) it smelled so good roasting over the coals. It was a quiet time, sitting in the dark on that cold mountaintop with these dear ones, talking and laughing, waiting for the rest of the family to arrive from all over the country. When they got there we wasted no time in getting to the food! We ate and ate and ate. Gluttony? Yes, and then some. I actually thought I hurt myself from eating so much. I know you all think I must eat tons, but I actually don't eat more than one meal a day usually and that not a big one. I just decided that with so much good food around and so many loved ones to share it with it was my duty to partake of all the goodies I possibly could! And I did! Oh my!

We did ourselves proud with our food let me tell you. Too proud. Looking at pictures when we got home I got hysterical laughing at us. We look like a convention of Sponge Bob Squarepants. I kid you not! I'm the largest Sponge, but there were some, who will remain antonymous, who were strong runner ups. Just too funny for words! My sister in law Faye made the BEST red beet eggs. Always does. They were a deep, dark aubergine, luscious and clear into the yolk. Talk about good! My niece Suzy and I sat and ate a half dozen each without stopping. Faye raised the beets in her garden so you know they were wonderful.

We had two birthday cakes. One for the youngest member of the family, 1 yr. old Nina, my nephew Dave's little girl. Another was for our daughter Debbie. I can't believe I have a daughter that age. Time sure flies doesn't it?

We rented a car to make the trip. A van. You know how I got about Pret wanting to bring home the Chrysler? Well, evidently any car will do it. Get out the crazy glue! I LOVED riding in that van! After being jolted around for so many years by the dumb little old truck, it was soft, smooth, no boob-lash, not even once! It held everything and had room to spare.
