Well, the casting director of Supernanny called this evening. I was taking a shower of course. Felt icky all day, so was nice to get some alone time.
Todd got to talk to her..asked questions that I already answered on the mega application. I got her number, but she wasn't in 10mins later...pacific time, so it was after 5 :( there.
I will try again in the am, but did leave a msg on her voice mail.
This is crazy. I am nervous and excited. I don't know how much I really need super nanny..just with some discipline issues, and my wishy washy way of doing it..
ugh, could be a local celeb tho!
will keep everyone updated....Comments:Add a comment:

well...today was a scorcher..yuk...stinks. Kids wanted to go out so bad, but did good helping me rearrange the living room furnature ..again....and unpack, do laundry, dishes, etc.
Well, it was a great time...even tho we think poor Rachel didn't enjoy herself much. So hard to please her.. I just wish I could help somehow.
Todd crashed after some more corn and ribs last night around 10 and I followed around 11pm. Lucky me got to sleep in!!! Konor crawled into our bed at some point in middle of the night..and then Zee came in after daddy left, around 8:30am. I decided to skip gymnastics at ten, didn't want to rush around. We're making it up tomorrow at 5 instead.
Konor didn't come downstairs until 10am!!
oh, managed to cut/trim Konor's hair today as well. Just the back/sides super short...better in this heat for him.. left the top kinda long, barely cut any.. I'll probably do one more super short sides n back cut then will start letting it grow out for fall/winter.

I guess since I print these out and put in binder for kids when older, I will put this here too...so the kids will know a 'lil' about their great aunt....
Prudence's this little piggy Noozletter Aug. 14/07
Oh gross!!! I was sitting on the sofa Sunday evening just minding my own business and Pret's, of course. My right foot was itchy and I slid it back and forth on the rug trying to scratch it a bit. My right little toe felt sort of numb and out of place. You notice things like that when you are sitting on the sofa on a Sunday night. First thought was 'Oh no, I've had a stroke! I'm losing my feeling in my little toe, it's going to spread to my whole foot! Next my leg will go limp and I'll start drooling!' Well, you do think of those things when a toe goes numb! Trust me! I tried wiggling it but it felt sort of cold and stiff. No use asking Pret to look at it. He doesn't do feet. Some Freudian thing I guess. I stuck my leg up as far as I could, trying to get some movement. Nothing. You know, when a little toe is numb it affects the whole body. At least your mind, which is at the opposite end of the body.
I was determined to get to the bottom of this mystery, or at least to the bottom of my foot. Notice Pret isn't saying anything like people do when they see someone struggling. No "Can I help you?" "Is something wrong?" Just telling you this so you remember why I just watched him trying so hard to get out of bed in the hospital. He doesn't like to get involved with physical things. Well, my being able to look at the bottom of my foot is like you trying to stand on the floor and wash your ceiling without a ladder. It ain't gonna happen in this lifetime! My foot may as well be on the space shuttle. At least I'd be able to watch it on MSNBC, right after they show mud drying on the news anchors tent stakes.
Now I'm getting panicky. You can reach things then that seem impossible at any other time. Somehow, I rolled the bulky, swollen body over on it's side and curled my right leg sort of back, and to the side, as my left leg lay draped across the floor from being dropped over the side of the sofa in the struggle. You know I can't bend that leg because of my knee surgery gone bad. It wasn't pretty, but at no time was my dignity ruffled. I have no dignity by now! My husband is sitting with his feet up watching some mindless TV show about maggots in a dead body while I am having a life threatening crisis not 10 feet away. SURELY he can hear and see me in my death throes! Has he no mercy? Can't he feel my pain? We're supposed to be joined as one in marriage! Oh yeah! I'm gonna wipe his butt when he has HIS stroke!
Finally I get a finger between my little toe that cried wee, wee wee all the way home and the one that had none. I scratch. I pull. I FEEL A LUMP!!!!! OH NO GOD! IT'S CANCER OF THE TOE!!!!!!! No one told me it can spread to the TOES!!!!! Well, at least it will be easy to remove. One snip with the pruning shears should do it. A staple or two and I'm good to hop. But wait! It moves! I can flip it sort of. Now I'm driven!!!! I WILL get this thing off of me NOW!!! I did! I did and it has me freaked out ever since! I'm now going blind from the sight! It was a TICK!!!! A TICK!!! A COUCH TICK!!! You know I never go out anymore. The dogs are on medicine that keeps ticks off of them so we never have them in the house or on the dogs. JUST ME!!! Trust me, after the noise that came out of my big mouth Pret wasn't watching maggots anymore. My leg reached across the room and was planted in his face. Who knew a 5'4" body could send their 100 lb leg that far into space? I can tell you that THIS got Pret's attention! He removed it, slayed it, burned it and physically it is no more. It only lives on in my mind................................
If you think you are freaked when you find one on your head or neck, trust me, you never want one under your precious little toe. I am obsessed with trying to see if there is a bullseye rash forming around it. Pret is back to his policy of 'not doing feet'. He lives in fear that I will ask him to cut my toenails on the ones who went to market. The ultimate sign that we are REALLY old. Like he can't see the sagging chins and wagging behinds. What puzzles me is how in the world did that sucker survive being walked on by anyone with this much gravitational pull? I can't even jump over a stain on the floor. I mean, they are like super bugs! It has to have something to do with Three Mile Island! I'll bet, before he died a fiery death in the sink, he sent an email to all his ticking, tortureous buddies telling how HE was walked on by this giant, flabby white chick and lived to tell about it!!!! His name will go down in tick history! ~@~

Here is the menu for our Kinley BBQ Fest that is being held this weekend in Coudersport, Pa., on the mountain of 'the brother who lives with bears'! The other one lives with gators. Me, I live with Pret LOL There will be various things to eat that aren't listed here, as people bring things at the last minute that they think of. I can hardly wait to get my teeth into all this wonderful food. The mountain will be 'smokin' this weekend as Kinley's come from Fl., Al., Min.?, NJ., NY., Pa., and Ma. to test their skill in this great BBQ Competition and cookoff. This isn't a reunion. It's just the children, grand children and great grand children of the three patriarchs of the Kinley Tribe, Rod, Terry and Me.

You have to admit, this is mouthwatering good food! We can't deny being a carnivorous crowd! Long live MEAT!!! We haven't gotten together like this since Rod's 50th wedding anniversary about 7 years ago. It will be so good to get all the kids together and see how the little ones have grown and also see some who arrived since that gathering of the clan we haven't seen. We wanted to do this before any of us old guys head home. So often families only get together at funerals or weddings. We don't get together as much since the ultimate organizer died. My mother. Boy, could she plan a picnic!

The above link (you do know if you click on the blue printing you will get to the site?) is fascinating reading. I found it when I was looking for more info. on that Great Grandmother of mine who lived in Kansas in the tiny log cabin. We forget the hardships the early settlers and soldiers endured settling this great country. I am always reading about pioneer life and the early explorers and am in awe of their heroism. People often say to me that I should have lived back then. Well, trust me, I am no hero, nor do I take hardship well. I'm perfectly happy living right now, but I would have loved to have been along as a coddled and pampered primadonna on some of those adventures. I do that pretty good. I love the adventure, but more on TV or the big screen than in real life. Hope you enjoy the reading and hearing some of what they went through for us.

Since we're smack in the middle of corn season, the Corn Queen would be remiss if she didn't offer you a recipe for a delicious way to eat that beguiling treat, corn on the cob. Here is a Paula Dean recipe for 'Cheese on the Cob'.

Since I seem to be focused on food today I have to tell you how much I enjoyed some stuffed peppers the other day. I stopped at Sam Starners produce stand neat Hampton and he had a bunch of gorgeous peppers sitting there smiling at me like they do this time of year. I introduced myself to them and said I hope they don't mind, but I think I would like to stuff them. They assured me they were fine with that idea. Actually they said they live to be stuffed! Not one to disappoint a pepper I got a few and took them home with me. Now most people I know mix hamburger with rice and stuff them. That is fine, but if you ever want to get to be my size it's time you start eating like I do! Here is how I make stuffed peppers.
Prudence's Bestest Stuffed Peppers
Cut your tops off the peppers and deseed. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and stick those suckers in the water thill they scream for mercy. No, actually just for a few minutes. You just want to blanch then, not cook them till they go limp. Using tongs, remove them from the water and sit upside down to drain while you prepare the stuffing mixture.
You will need a pound or so of hamburger, a few slices of white bread that you cut into small bits with a scissors. (not the ones you cut the toenail that went to market with for heavens sake) not unless you rubbed it on your pants first!, (don't ruin them trying to make them healthy with wheat bread!) I mean it! WHITE BREAD! an onion diced pretty small, maybe fry some bacon you have diced, and throw that in for good measure, a handful or parmesan cheese, some catsup, maybe 1/2 cup or so, an egg or two that you flicked a few times, some parsley, a bit of italian seasoning and by John you are ready to get stuffin!!!! Sit those pepper children on a piece of release foil in a baking pan. If they don't want to stand up and take it, just make a foil collar and put it around each one to inspire them. Now take your hands, spoons not allowed, and put it into those sweet things right up to the top and then some. After it's all piled in there real food sprinkle more parmesan on top. You COULD add more catsup on top, but mine always burns in my miserable oven. I bake them at 350 for a half hour or so. Until they are done don't you know. Now you can sit back and know that you are taking good care of your family by baking some of the seasons bounty. You have served them a healthy meal of veggies! Oh, we always put more catsup on them as we eat them. Serve with some of that Cheese on the Cob and you have one delicious Summertime meal.

I'll take you on one of my favorite Adams County Food Tours. Are you ready? Did you go to the bathroom? I'll start off heading up Rt. 30 going west from New Oxford. Heading towards Gettysburg go West until you see the Gettysburg Pretzel sign on the left. It's about half way up there I'd say. Get either their Soft Pretzels or their Soft Pretzel Sticks. Just kill me now! These puppies are the BEST!!! Made by hand, the new owner is Doug Miller, (daugher is a bone cancer survivor I told you about) who used to ride my schoolbus. Doug, not Heidi. He and a cousin I think, bought it this year and you will kill yourself on them if you aren't careful. They make hard pretzels to, but at my age I must take care of my teeth. Besides, nothing, not even CORN is better when they are hot.
Now head up to Gettysburg and go towards Biglerville. You'll pass my favorite butcher shop in that area, The Butcher Block. It's before Biglerville on the right. Get their Fresh Apple Sausage. We love their rib eye steaks and their N.Y. Strips as well. Go to the square in Biglerville and turn right. Go a few blocks and you will see the Gettysburg Baking Company. Stop now if you are easily addicted to Artisinal Bread. Get their Seeded Twisted Loaf. OH MY WORD!!!!!! Don't get just one. You will need at least 3. These are to die for. I mean it! They are open Tuesday through Saturday, and are going to be openig a cafe soon. This isnt't your ordinary bakery bread. It's divine! Food of the God's good.
Now continue going East on that road until you see an obscure sign pointing towards ASPERS. Yes, Aspers. Turn left and pay attention to the signs. If you get confused just ask someone how to get to the Pizza shop in Aspers. Order a large pizza with the seven toppings. It's $16.00 I think. This is the closest I have found to the Villa Roma Pizza I first became addicted to in York when I worked For Larry Beivenour as a floral designer when I was a sprout. He's get two or three, we'd eat as we worked and next day what was left we finished cold. JUST DIVINE!!!! This was pizza. Well now you can experience the same luscious tasting food I have craved all these many years later. The Villa Rome is no more, but the Pizza in Aspers is alive and well!
Continue down 234 to East Berlin. As you enter on the West end of town you will come to a BBQ smoker sitting along the street smoking away on the left. There you will taste the best BBQ beef and pork sandwiches in the whole area, maybe even the state. I get the Pork BBQ sandwich plain. I add my own sauce and sweet relish. Eat and pay me later. It's great stuff!
Now go to the signal light in town. The only one and turn right. As you do you will notice a large white building called Sidney. They have great food. Pricier but well worth the cost. Reservations are usually required in the evening but lunch you may get lucky.
You are heading toward Abbottstown now. Go slow as if you get there between 9:00 a.m. and say 3:00 you will see a roadsign stand with crowds of people around. It's at Danners Insurance Company. There is an awning with the prettiest produce you will see up here. Mrs Miller and her family raise the best sweet corn by FAR that you will ever eat. BY FAR!!! To die for. Eggplants, squash, peppers, melons, sweet onions. All the best. Tel they I sent you and you will get a big smile. No discount, but you know, you gotta make money when you can in the produce business. Lovely people. Doug Millars brothers family growns the vegetables.
Now go to Abbottstown. Go around the circle and head to York. About two blocks from the square on the right you will see Menges Restaurant. Get a chocolate malted milk outside at the window, or go inside for a meal. Great prices. Fattening farmer food common for our area as is THE IRON SKILLET back in East Berlin. I forgot about that. Oh, Kyles is there to in East Berlin. I told you about them before. Okay. That's it for today. Have a great week and don't forget to go to church. When you leave, go to Maria's in Hanover beside the car wash on Carlisle St. for brunch. TOO GOOD!!!
Guess you could say I'm obsessed with food this week! LOL

2pm Temps.: 101 Huntsville.
Temps will top put near 105 this afternoon as this brutal heat wave continues!
We should see a bit more moisture in the air by Friday and this will bring down the afternoon high temps. to near 100. However, the increased moisture will likely make it feel even hotter!
There is a chance of a brief shower by Sunday as this upper level ridge weakens and temps will likely drop back into the 90's.
Dan's Forecast:
This afternoon: Brutal heat. High 104-105.
Tonight: Fair and very warm. Low 73.
Wed: Sunny and very hot. High 103-104.Comments:Add a comment:

Wow, home ALONE! 1st time in years, ever??? With sarah & lee in Pa (yup, made it)
and now my baby girl at school..wow...this is weird, the silence.. too bad have too much to do and can't just go to sleep or run around naked or something, lol
the daily dharma:
With This Stranger On Our Own
Perhaps the deepest reason why we are afraid of death is because we do not know who we are. We believe in a personal, unique, and separate identity--but if we dare to examine it, we find that this identity depends entirely on an endless collection of things to prop it up: our name, our "biography," our partners, family, home, job, friends, credit cards. . . It is on their fragile and transient support that we rely for our security. So when they are all taken away, will we have any idea of who we really are?
Without our familiar props, we are faced with just ourselves, a person we do not know, an unnerving stranger with whom we have been living all the time but we never really wanted to meet. Isn't that why we have tried to fill every moment of time with noise and activity, however boring or trivial, to ensure that we are never left in silence with this stranger on our own?

Well, 3 days to go till our trip. Konor is sooo excited, asking daily to go to pappy's house, see nanny, etc. We actually packed the kids suitcase tonight.
sarah/lee left yesterday, spent nite somewhere and last we heard where in cleaveland. Should be there by now, but no service on her phone and todd doesn't want to freak his folks out if they aren't there.
Well, another thing in news...still working on the SuperNanny application.
And also....had my awakening finally...or BUDDHA..
which is what buddha means.
I've finally decided to become BUDDHIST, or at least study zen buddhism. I found a zen center or temple here.. there are actually many. the man that 'runs' it is a quantum physicist from MI, and whose dad is from Pittsburgh.
His thoughts on death resemble mine a lot.
I just hope that this helps w/some of my anger towards the christians that I feel are soo wrong, cult like and evangalise too much.
I pulled the kids out of music class after only one session. I liked it, but there was no way I could sing or have kids sing the songs they made them.
I have plenty of books coming hopefully before trip so I have lots to read in vehicle and in hotels.
Oh, Zilya is going to school tomorrow with Konor for orientation. I think she is going to cry. She is such a mommas girl. She likes the place, so I hope she does ok.
I'm going to have her goe tuesday too, I think.
I have to take Dirk, the puppy to vet for shots..and get some packages out in mail too.
busy,busy...even tho both kids will be in school, this is how my week will go, starting nxt month:
Monday: Konor school (zz at home)
tues: zilya school (kc at home, then gymnastics)
wed: kc school, zilya gymnastics
thurs: both kids at home (possibly music class or tae kwon do for konor)
friday: both at school
Well, kids were up till 10 last night, so zilya fell asleep at 6pm...Konor is up watching tv in bed...should have went off by now, so need to go up and put him to bed too.

Zilya just picked up the puppy and said, "he's like a pickle!" Just thought it was too cute, so wanted to 'remember it'
Also, with the potty training, she sits on the lil potty and says, "It's workin'!" when she starts to pee.. Ha ha :)
