Konor & Zilya

May 2005

  • Fri, May 27, 2005 5:25 PM

Took Zilya for her shots today. She is 13lbs 11oz(95%tile) 23"(75%tile) and head circum of 39cm..
    I've never had a kid be above 50%tile b4!
    Konor was: 12lbs and 22.5" and head 39 1/4cm..
    Kyla was even smaller @ 11lbs 4oz and only 21 1/2"

We discussed Zilya's eating issues, and says she has GERD:
    GERD.
Recurrent vomiting, stomach pain, coughing, wheezing and difficulty swallowing are all symptoms of pediatric GERD. GERD occurs when stomach acid backs up excessively, or “refluxes, into the esophagus. When stomach acid frequently and persistently comes in contact with the esophagus it causes irritation that can lead to GERD.

In children, GERD has been associated with chronic respiratory conditions such as cough, bronchitis, hoarseness and pneumonia. In the most severe cases, pediatric GERD can cause malnutrition and even failure to thrive. That’s why it’s so important to discuss any and all symptoms with your child’s doctor as soon as possible.
    ----------------------------
So, for now he has changed her formula to Enfamil AR lipil. It is thicker, and has rice starch added. Hopefully she won't spit/throw up as much and will fill her up so she won't eat as much as she has...

Also, she has this scar like thing on side of her head. We thought just from birth. turns out it is Nevus and willl need removed. She sees a plastic surgeon June 14th.

Well, I officially cut Konors hair today! :) I've been trying for a month, a lil ea day. trimming around his ears and the back part. Well, today I got his booster seat out, sat him in it, and went to his head w/the clippers! Looks good, got a lot off, and is now a whole lot thinner... He did very well too, and wasn't even scared. Gave him a 'new' used toy of Ky's that was in other toy box to keep him occupied!

man, today went fast. At least I accomplished alot. Gonna have to start going out b4 noon/naps tho as it got over 90 today, yuk!

Zilya is eating better today, meaning, not as frequent and not making such a fuss. I think I may have figured it out. 1st the nipples were too small, now, I think she likes her formula room temp, not from fridge. Both my other 2 were fine w/cold formula by now.. but oh well, we shall see.

Konor has been soo whiny/fussy today. He keeps throwing his toys, saying "No!" and now, has thrown his entire supper on floor... temper, temper.. And when I tell him no, stop.. he just yells no back or laughs... oye... Also, getting soo attached, and jealous, if I'm holding Zilya. And when in store, I took 2 steps away to grab some fresh asparagus/romaine lettuce...hand still on cart, he squeeled, then bit my hand!! oh man, what is going on w/him??

Well they say bad things come in 3's. John Fords passing on the 10th. Then next tues, Todd watched a friend/coworker on motorcycle get killed right in front of him, Mike Jones. A few days later, Sarah's friends dad, Farron, 48yo, died of massive heart attack.
So, late Friday evening we decided to go down to LA, louisianna that is to funeral. We left around 8:30Sat morn. I joked about how many baby clothes I packed. Well, glad I did, later.
The drive wasn't too bad. I only drove for 2hrs tho. Konor napped only 45mins. Zilya did great.
We arrived in Lafayette and stayed at a Days Inn. Todd and Sarah went to funeral cos it was past Konors bedtime. It took till 9:30 to get him to sleep!! Then Zilya puked major 2x, hence why I was glad I brought extra receiving blankets, clothes. But she ended up sleeping 8hrs straight! :)
Todd told me Sarah's boyfriend couldn't come back to room. (we got two) So, I just went to bed. But then he woke me at 1am saying he was here, and to come over, have a glass of wine, chill. But I was too exhausted.
Next morning, we went into Kaplan and visited w/her friend Meaghan, Lenis and lil Johnny, a nephew, I think. Konor had fun playing. We only stayed an hour cos wanted to get back on road and started to head back east, going diff route, thru the bayou/swamps of lower louisianna, into New Orleans.
It is way hotter down there! Friday they had over 100, and was a record breaker! I swear it was still in mid, high 80's @ midnite, crazy. And the uv is extreme there right now too, only 'high' here.
Todd of course got some crawfish, as that is what they farm there, along w/rice. And made me try boudin, (boo-dan) which is like this breakfast sausage link, cajun, w/rice and liver or something, anyway, b etter for lunch, but good, spicy!
I couldn't pronounce hardly any of the streets/towns as are all french. I woulda thought folks would speak even more southern than here, more like texas, but i was wrong. They had accents, but more french/cajun than southern. And everyone is soo slooow... I called it lazy-anna, lol..
Anyway, we made it to new orleans, and just drove around french quarter, bourbon street, and jackson square. it looks so slummy, run down to me, but cool looking as it's like the oldest original city in US. I really wanted to go to the cemetaries..as always my 'thing' And b/c the ones there are very old and above ground. We passed some on highway, but didn't stop. And the two in NO were closed an hour earlier. Some day..
We thought about staying on I10 and going into Gulfport MS and stick our toes in the sand and gulf of mexico, but changed our minds, way too hot anyway. So back up thru MS we went. Total time was 13hrs back. Konor did better, but Zilya fussed the last hour. Todd turned up radio, and that finally got her to stop crying as nothing else was working, and we couldn't stop again (no exits)
    So, that was our trip...

Konor woke @ 7am from the thunder, but went back to sleep, and had to wake him @ 8:45am.
Zilya didn't do as good as last nite. Only 9:30-1:30, tried to feed and put back down, but she wanted more, so didn't get back to sleep till 2:30, and again up @6am. Still better than every 2hrs..

oreo cookies, bagel bites, and waffle house...
yrs of endless nites talking.. "random thoughts" of the "Green" and the "white"
Buffalo's days and the "W" factor!
all your picture taking and of my own dd on my very 1st mother's day. You were there for her memorial.
    Guntersville Lake.
your goofy laugh and that sparkle in your one eye when you did laugh.
Jim Beam and diet Coke in a coffee mug.
    Sci-fi and 'toons'
    appreciation for music.
And computer help to me.when I 1st learned to get online.
Oh Johnny boy...my fellow yankee friend, Go Pats and rival of the Steelers!
I think of you tonight as I can't get much sleep.
You're so on my mind. Todd is out w/ Matt celebrating your life. Toasting a sweet farewell to you. You were so young.
Death is so final.. Where are you now?
I'm sorry you had to go alone. I'm sorry you lost your friend. I tried to be there for you after she too passed on. Maybe you are together now.? I'll never know.
I do know that in an instant a world can change. And life is lost. I been losing family members and friends all too often lately.
I fear the death of Todd or my Dad or his folks or even losing another of my children.
Every day is lived to it's fullest. And I've always admired your generosity and free spiritedness.
Part of me is angry u didn't call 911 or go to dr if you weren't feeling well. So nobel of you to let it slide. But John...oh john...you died honey..and no one was there to hold your hand, to say good bye. I am soo, so very sorry.
I will always remember you... :(

Today I learned that a an old good friend of ours, John J Ford passed away. I got an email from his sister in Boston. He apparently left work early last Thurs, took Friday off. He had complained of having breathing probs to someone earlier. When he didn't call home on Mothers Day or show up to work on Monday/Tuesday, someone was sent out to his house. There they found him on the floor, dead of a massive heart attack. I belive he just turned 47 this past March. I was shocked to hear this. Though we haven't seen ea other much over the last year or so, we still kept good email contact. I last spoke w/him 2wks ago. Todd went out to his house, which was left unlocked and we talked w/his sister. Had the locksmith out to get keys for lock so no one can go steal from him. I tried to call Matt, but Todd ended up going to his work to tell him. He is now at one of John's hang-outs, Applebee's where there are folks that knew him, and are all toasting him and telling stories, sharing memories. I wish I coulda had a sitter to join them. His 'body' is being shipped to home, Boston, and there will also be a memorial here soon.
It is always so sad to learn that someone you care about has gone. We'll miss ya John-boy...!

My birthday was fine. Todd made me crab legs. Rachel came over and gave me the greatest step mom card for moms day and my bday. She wrote wonderful words in it! Sarah called too, as did my brother Ron and mil, Faye and Frankie and Bobbie. I didn't answer the phone to all as I was napping. I'm pretty much diagnosed w/ppd, ptsd(post partum depression, post traumatic stress disorder [ky's drowning] and anxiety) As I"m a too paranoid mom now. I've started meds 2wks ago, just waiting. Haven't left the house since then. Hard enought to get mail, and don't do that daily. I'm just napping a lot and taking care of the kids. Zilya is smiling now and that helps, but still not sleeping long at nite. Ultimatly, I'd say I'm happy, but I'm disalususioned (sp?) Todd makes me feel greatful as he is now stuck in a 'cube' and here, yes, I have windows. I people watch the neighbors, birds.. the babies left bird house w/o my knowledge and it's been quiet past two days. Usually I have cardinals, blue jays, mourning doves, etc...my own aviary!
Weather has been so pleasantly nice I wish I could be out more to enjoy..but I feel so listless.
I want to lose 10 more pds as I've stablized and that is depressing. Seeing my flabby tummy, even if it is flat or sucked in, the skin is dry, cracked and flabby and depressingly grossly unattractive. Though, turning 30, isn't yet.. my sex life has improved once again and the desire is there again. (sorry if tmi)
I guess I should be posting this on my own blog.. and this should only be about the kids...
Todd got me a new printer/scanner/copier.. and yet, it isn't installing software, like i thought/presumed, and I know there is nothing wrong w/the one we have now. So, that sucks. I want to get back on ebay as having a printer helps w/ mail lables so i don't have to drag kids to post office. I have two envelopes for dad and in-laws full of printed pics of babies, addressed for over a wk, just sitting here.
if my printer worked.. they'd be out.
i should be in bed now. babies r sleeping.....
    oh how i love them.
thanks to all who sent me bday wishes. much appreciated.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MOMMY! I'M THE BIG 3-0! Oh where has the time gone! I've gotten my wish of 3 kids by 30, but one is gone... so there may be just one more in my future... but not now,yet...
My birthday reminds me of my own mom. As birthdays should..they are really mothers days... A day the mom remembers that birth.. I now know/understand that love.
Todd told me this evening that I looked 'natural' as I held zily... meant to be a mommy.. And I can only agree. I find myself saddened over Ky but I'm very elated over my life.. I love holding my babies!!!! It's so surreal holding them both. The smiles and now the hugs that KC gives.. yummy... I could just eat it up! My heart overflows w/endless love! And.. to top it off, I have 2 wonderful step daughters that I love dearly too. They are such great smart, pretty, and intelligent girls! Oh the grandor.. such is life, who'd a thunk?

I point to her urn and pic and say, "Kyla".. so later I ask, "Konor, where's Kyla?" he goes and points to her memorial and urn. One day he'll know more about her..but I'm just glad he knows her at all for now. His sweet big sister...our punky girl.. Kyla T.
